Bidawal Suburbs
Suburbs
City
is the central city, containing Parliament House,
British Empire University
, the Federal Mint, and so on. The Stock Exchange and many financial institutions are here. The inner-city apartments here are cheap and nasty, only poor people and the homeless live here. There are many African migrants and refugees. There are several abandoned buildings, notably the
Blade Hotel
, the
Edmonds power station
, and of course the never-completed
Cook Harbour Tunnel
.
Barton
is a medium-density and cost residential suburb.
Beersheba
is a broad suburb, very working and unemployed class, lots of home hydroponics set-ups.
Cambrai
is a former Housing Commission suburb whose homes were sold cheaply to immigrants in the 1980s. Over half the people are Chinese, Cambodians or Vietnamese. National parklands have been illegally logged and planted with market gardens.
Gabo Island
is a former prison island. The abandoned
Gabo Prison
is here.
Gallipoli
is a working-class suburb, with small homes packed closely together, very high crime rate, especially around Gallipoli Racecourse.
Genoa
is a middle-classed suburb whose large homes are gradually becoming banks of units.
Griffith
is a very expensive suburb, with many parklands, houses with high walls and wide grounds.
Jetty
is a habourside suburb, and is mostly warehouse and commercial buildings.
McNamara
is a broad suburb and industrial area surrounding McNamara Airport.
Parkes
is a "quarter-acre block" suburb, formerly farmlands, built up after WWII. It has quite a lot of Greeks and Italians.
Ypres
or "Wipers" as it's known locally, is an industrial suburb, with many abandoned factories. Chemical plants belch unknown substances into the air. The ruins of the
Winston Nuclear Plant
, whose construction was abandoned only three months from completion in 1975, rust away here.
