Bronding Names

In general, surnames are not used, though some families will identify themselves by the name of some famous predecessor, so that the family of Eni becomes known as the Enings, and so on.

Some high status families will give their children names with two elements, either a combination of each parent's name, or of two things which they hope or expect the child to exemplify in life, for example a woman brought up as a warrior might be known as Sigcwen, "victiorious woman."

There follows a list of name elements with their meanings, followed by a list of standard men's names, then women's names.
