Overseer James Wainwright Overseer Wainwright is not a man to cross in the Retreat. His beliefs in what is the best for the community are strong and those whose views differ quickly find themselves running afoul of the Guardians. He gives regular public speeches regarding the duty of a good citizen, the importance of remaining isolated from the barbarous, dangerous and corrupt “World Above”, the benefits of the merit point system and what people can look forward to in Sector 9. James’ father, Richard Wainwright was the Overseer before him.
